Although We've Come To The End Of The Road...

Since it's that time of year, I thought I would entitle this last blog for the 2014-2015 school year using lyrics from a song played multiple times this time of year.  I know we can all see the end but let's work hard to make these last 4 days some of the best for our kids.  It is a busy week so please let me know if you have any questions or if you see something I missed...please let me know.  I hope you enjoy this cover...doesn't even touch our EOG video (thanks again Mrs. Gaines).

Week of June 8-12, 2015

Monday, June 8

• Grades Due!
• 5th Grade GREAT in AM (see Mrs. Cowan)
• 3rd Grade RtA Test (info regarding testing will be provided by Mr. Backus)
• 5th Grade Awards at 1:00 PM (3rd and 4th can attend but must sit behind guest and 5th graders)/ Snoballs will be free for all 5th graders and staff members.  Will come around and take orders after 2 tomorrow

Tuesday, June 9

• Field Trip Day (your chaperon assignment's will be attached to email for the blog)
• Ice Cream Served to all students and staff at 2:30. Location will be announced Tuesday afternoon.
• Short 2015 EOG Test Review at 3:30 in Media Center

Wednesday, June 10

• Students will regroup with field trip groups and chaperons and create at least one written review of field trip, at least one review using technology, and one thank you letter.
• Hill at Title I budget mtg at 10 AM
• PBIS Water Day

Thursday, June 11

• LAST DAY!!
• Report Cards Given AFTER 11:30
• Awards Day at 1:00 for 3rd and 4th graders

Friday, June 12

• Mandatory Workday
• After Party at Mrs. Gay's House @ 3:00 PM

Sunday, June 14

School will be open Sunday afternoon (please sign up on bar starting on Wednesday)

Sorry this is so late! It seems as if Summer Fever has hit the Hill house and it is hard to stick to a schedule.  I hope you enjoyed your weekend and that you're excited about what we'll see this Tuesday and Wednesday! Happy Short Week!

I hope everyone is enjoying their LONG weekend.  It makes since that we have this most needed break right before testing season is upon us.  I know that this time of year can make you forget about the ultimate goal we have for our students so I hope this video from Edutopia helps refocus you.  Although it's about technology, think about how this way of thinking transforms education as we currently know it.

How Precious...

This morning I woke with plans laid out for the day and then I got a phone call.  My mom called to share that my grandmother had driven through an intersection and into a trailer's front porch.  She was rushed to Wake Med and it looks like she only has a broken or fractured leg.

Why does it take a phone call like the one I received this morning to put things in perspective?  I have always lived my life as a person who doesn't let opportunities slide past them.  If there's a party...I am there.  But why do events like today jolt me into thinking that life is just too precious and too short?

So, let's not waste another minute in front of this blog.  Go hug someone you love.  Go call someone and tell them how much you love them.  How about you just stare into the sky and be in wonder of God's wonderful works? Call your mom or mom figure on Mother's Day and tell them why you love them so much.


Enjoy each moment....we're only given a set amount of moments.

Thank You For All You Do...

Teachers and those that work in a school building have a tough job.  We have to do one of the MOST important jobs on Earth that has the ability to set a child in a positive projectory that can change their lives and the lives of their offspring...and you that you were just teaching them how to multiple and divide.  Seriously, thank you for what you do and I wish I had the ability to give you a gift that would show how much I do appreciate you but I don't have enough money for that! What I do have is the ability to give you the gift of...JEANS!  You can wear jeans Monday-Friday this week and pay NOTHING!!! Man, I am an awesome principal.  No seriously, thanks for all you do and enjoy this beautiful Sunday!

35 Days Until We Show How AWESOME We Are!

Have I shared how AWESOME y'all are lately? I am currently at the HCS Job Fair and meeting these future HC employees and then comparing the work you guys are already doing for our babies puts many things in perspective! THANK YOU for giving your all and for sacrificing so much...On June 2nd and 3rd our students will have a chance to show what a difference you've made in their lives.  I am so excited :)
